Beautiful, contemporary 3300 square foot 3 bedroom/4 bath home nestled on top of its own hilltop on 39 acres seated at 7650'. This hilltop home has sweeping 360 degree mountain and lake views, with walls of glass to take it all in. This is a peaceful, serene, private location...a safe haven to recharge your batteries or simply have fun in the mountains. It is a great place to enjoy a honeymoon, writer's retreat, or a peaceful healing vacation.
The home is modern/contemporary with clean lines and minimalist decor. The windows offer easy open and close electric shades. The chef's kitchen is well stocked and the furniture is new. The primary bedroom is off the main living area and the other two ensuite bedrooms are located in their own wing. All bedrooms have their own access to one of two decks. The home is equipped with a whole home humidity unit set at 30%, an ERV exchanges indoor/outdoor air every 30 minutes, there is air conditioning and radiant floor heat, and the home was built as chemical free as possible. The fine linens are washed with unscented products and the only scent in the home will be the fresh mountain air.
There is so much to do in the Durango area. There are many fine restaurants in town and in Telluride. It is a 15 minute drive to Main Avenue in Durango, 50 minutes to Purgatory ski area, 80 minutes to Silverton, 2 hours to Ouray or Telluride, and 1 hour 45 mins to the Wolf Creek ski area. The Million Dollar Highway lies between Silverton and Ouray, and if you want a beautiful scenic loop, it is an hour to Telluride from Ouray and then 2 hours back to the house. This is just the tip of the iceberg, you can spend a year in Durango and not see everything the environment has to offer.
Please note that the altitude here is 7650', which may be difficult initially for people who are accustomed to living near sea level. Compact portable oxygen canisters are available at some supermarkets and drug stores, but usually electrolytes quickly remedy any discomfort.
An AWD vehicle is highly recommended during the snowy season, as the gravel driveway can get slippery. There are also many exiting dirt roads to explore, some of which culminate in lakes or historic mines, so AWD/4WD will add to your adventures.
